I Lost 20 Pounds Still Have Belly Fat
Hello, I lost 20 pounds, but I still have a pretty good amount of belly fat. Do I need to lose even more weight? I’m confused and disappointed. I was working so hard to lose 20 pounds in 1 month and when I finally lost it I thought that my belly fat would be completely gone, but I still have belly fat. What did I do wrong and why do I still have belly fat? Can you help me? Thanks, Trish. [via Ask Belly Fat Questions]
You did not do anything wrong, per se, but why do you seem to believe that losing 20 pounds is equal to losing belly fat? Have you lost any belly fat at all? I bet you did. Unfortunately, it is not reasonable to expect that just because you lost 20 pounds you should not have any belly fat left.
Are you still overweight? If you are, you need to lose more weight. If you are within a healthy weight range now and you still have belly fat, it is not a good idea to try to lose even more weight. What is the solution? Continue following your diet. In addition, focus on increasing your muscle mass. Why? Because instead of losing more weight, your goal should be to have more muscle than body fat. That is how you can lose belly fat without losing more weight.
