Losing Belly Fat by Burning Calories

Sometimes when you are exercising, it helps to figure out how much weight you will lose if you just push yourself a little further. Most exercise is rated by the number of calories burned per hour, but here is a helpful conversion of calories burned per mile when running or walking. Remember burning more calories means burning away more belly fat. These are approximate numbers and vary from individual to individual.
- Running at 8 MPH – 125 calories per mile
- Jogging at 5 MPH - 118 calories per mile
- Walking at 3.5 MPH – 80 calories per mile
- Bicycling at 9 MPH – 30 calories per mile
So now when you are out getting your exercise you will know how many extra calories you will burn if you go just one more mile. Another way to think about this is how much extra will you need to walk if you slip up on your diet go over your daily calorie limit. For example, a single eight ounce serving of vanilla ice cream has 290 calories.
That means that if you treat yourself to ice cream, you will need to walk an extra 3.6 miles just to break even. That’s an extra half mile every day for a week. So the next time you are thinking about cheating on your diet, think about the extra miles you will need to put in to make up for it if you want to keep losing belly fat.
