Make Healthy Substitutions to Lose Belly Fat

Many of the diets we see today promote extreme measures to reduce belly fat and lose weight. These types of fad diets can only work in the short term. They are painfully strict, and geared for temporary usage instead of making a lifelong change in your way of living. That usually means that the belly fat comes back almost as quickly as it went away.

Each cycle of this up and down dieting makes your body more resistant to losing belly fat, until you lose hope and just give up the struggle, but not only is there real hope, but there are scientifically proven, safe and effective ways of losing belly fat.  The key is replacing unhealthy habits with healthy habits.

One simple technique is to take a look at the things you eat and drink each day. Do you drink one or two cans (or more) of soda each day? Switching from two cans of soda to water can eliminate as much as 320 calories a day from your diet. While it might be tempting to use a zero calorie diet soda instead, I strongly recommend water.

A number of studies have found that diet soda is not effective to help lose weight or reduce belly fat.  The reason cited by researchers is that the body reacts to the sweet taste of the diet soda as if it contained high amounts sugar, even if it doesn’t.  That means the body kicks its fat-building machinery into high gear.

Since the body thinks it is getting a bonus of sugar and high energy foods, it starts storing fat as a reserve against future shortages. Replacing just two cans of soda each day with water can help the pounds and the belly fat melt away as you develop healthy habits for life.
