Are there any snacking options to lose belly fat? Yes, there are snacking options that can help you lose belly fat, but you have to know what they are, and you have to know which snacks to choose and why.

When you are trying to lose belly fat and keep it off, you have to make smart choices. You have to stick to a regular program of exercise, and reduce your caloric intake. Sometimes this means learning the difference between a smart choice and a not so smart choice. Three sensible meals each day is fine, but many people get into trouble with snacks. Which snacks have fewer calories? Here’s a quick list to help you choose.

Smart snacking options to lose belly fat:

  • A medium sized apple: 75 calories
  • One cup of celery stalks: 18 calories – It is hard to go wrong with this low calorie choice.
  • One cup of seedless grapes: 110 calories
  • One cup of carrot sticks: 50 calories
  • One cup of dill pickle spears: 28 calories – Pickles are a flavorful and filling snack choice.

Not so smart snacking options that unlikely to help you lose belly fat:

  • One 4″ bagel, plain: 250 calories – While a bagel, or a half a bagel, may be suitable for a breakfast meal, it has too many calories for a snack.
  • Half a cup of cashews, no salt: 400 calories! Yikes.
  • One 2″ brownie square: 250 calories and more than 10 grams of fat
  • One slice of cheese pizza: 140 calories and it goes up fast if you add toppings
  • One cup of cottage cheese, whole milk: 220 calories – 2% milkfat cottage cheese is not much better at 200 calories per cup.

You can see that, as a general rule, fruits and vegetables are going to be smarter choices that nuts, breads, dairy products, or processed food snacks. Keep this in mind and you’re well on your way.
