Why We Have Belly Fat

Why do you think so many people have belly fat? I am sure we can all come up with many reasons, but it all boils down to this: People gain weight and develop belly fat because they consume too many calories. Sure, some people can be skinny and still have belly fat – they are called skinny-fat people, by the way – but the majority of people who have belly fat are not skinny, they are overweight.
In fact, according to a recent study, instead of reducing our consumption of junk food, we are eating more of it every year. When it comes to burning off all those calories, we are still pretty much clueless. For example, a group of regular people was asked to estimate how much time of brisk walking it would take to burn off a slice of carrot cake. Some people said about 30 minutes, others said about 1 hour. The correct answer? It would take 35 minutes of brisk walking to burn off the cream cheese icing alone!
